The Bio-Engineering Center
The Bio-Engineering Center was originally established in
1979 to provide technical support to the research community
at the Health Center. Recently, Bio-Engineering has gone
through a transition and has been expanded to function as an
internal engineering and technical services center. We
provide a fee for service to all areas of the institution,
with the rate provided below.
Our principal services include the following:
Engineering (Biomedical/Electrical/Mechanical)
- Consultation
Grant planning, equipment/device
conceptualization, equipment selection.
- Cooperation
Grant and/or project participation.
- Academics
Assist with identifying graduate engineering
student candidates for projects and provide student
oversight, etc.
Electrical/Mechanical
- Repair
Centrifuges, water baths, stir-plates, etc.
- Design/fabrication
Plexiglas chambers, replacement
parts, custom devices, etc., from customer’s prints or
specifications.
- Machine shop services
Fully-equipped machine shop with
lathe, milling machine, etc.
Miscellaneous Services
- Laboratory pipette
Calibration, repair (Call for
pricing!)
- Stock of commonly used parts
Bulbs, fuses, cables,
adapters, interface cards, etc.
- Parts/equipment location
Catalogs, phone search, and
internet.
Current Rates
(Please note that this rate is inexpensive when compared
to similar outside resources.)
- Engineering, Technician, Machine Shop
$90.00 per hour.
Response times vary depending on current work load and we
do our best to handle emergencies on the same day.
