Mission Statement
HCRAC shall advise the Senior Associate Dean for Research
Planning and Coordination on the development, management and
disposition of the Health Center’s central research
resources, and intramural grants programs.
HCRAC shall:
- Develop an annual budget for support of
institutional core research facilities, graduate
students, and intramural grants programs.
- Make recommendations on general programs, policies
and procedures designed to improve the Health Center's
research infrastructure.
- Establish policies governing, and oversee the
operation of, the central research service facilities at
the Health Center.
- Approve the recommendations of various review panels
regarding the distribution of budgeted funds to support
faculty research and instrumentation grants.
- Serve as a resource which can be called upon for
advice on the distribution of unrestricted gifts
received by the Health Center for general research
support and other matters relating to research.
HCRAC shall be composed of faculty at the Health Center,
with the Medical School Senior Associate Dean for Research Planning
and Coordination, and the Dental School Associate Dean for
Research serving as ex officio, non-voting members. The
School of Medicine Research Council and the Dental School
Faculty Senate shall each appoint one voting member.
Additional voting members of HCRAC shall be appointed from
the faculties of the Basic Science and Clinical Departments
of the School of Medicine and the School of Dental Medicine,
reflecting the research efforts of each School. Appointments
of all members will be made by the Vice President
for Health Affairs/Dean, School of Medicine, in consultation
with the Senior Associate Dean for Research Planning and
Coordination and the Dean of the School of Dental Medicine.
The chairman shall be appointed in a similar fashion. The
term of membership shall be three years with arrangements
for staggered terms. No member shall serve more than two
successive terms on HCRAC. |
